Embodied AI Lead / Robot Brain Lead (Robotics)

Annual salary: $180,000–$250,000 DOE, plus benefits and incentive plans

What you will do

• Own the overall Embodied AI architecture, including System 2 vision-language-action models, System 1 visuomotor policies, and world model integration.
• Define technical roadmaps and make decisions on model families and training strategies, including diffusion policies, transformer policies, VLA approaches, and RL/BC hybrids.
• Lead implementation and deployment of the first production Robot Brain on at least one real robot platform.
• Collaborate with Control & Robotics, Agent & Applications, and Platform & Data teams on skills, workflows, data schemas, logging, and deployment pipelines.
• Define evaluation protocols covering task success, robustness, long-horizon stability, safety incidents, observability, and debugging.
• Hire, mentor, and lead an initial team of 3–6 Embodied AI engineers and researchers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning or robotics, including 2+ years in a lead or technical lead role.
• Proven experience deploying machine learning models on real robotic hardware, not only in simulation.
• Strong Python skills and experience with PyTorch or JAX, including multi-GPU training.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write design documents and align stakeholders.

Nice to have

• PhD or equivalent industry research experience in Robotics, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with VLMs, VLAs, or multimodal LLM-based agents for real-world embodied tasks.
• Experience scaling robot learning systems in production, including large-scale data collection, sim-to-real transfer, and continuous learning loops.
