ML Roboticist (AI)

Location: Must be based in San Mateo, CA or Somerville, MA (On-site)

Salary: $200,000 – $350,000 + Equity

What you will do

• Design fine-tuning and adaptation strategies for downstream robotic tasks and embodiments.
• Develop methods to improve robot reliability, robustness, and controllability.
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure real-world robot performance beyond offline metrics.
• Optimize inference-time performance including latency, stability, and memory footprint.
• Leverage techniques such as imitation learning, RL, distillation, and synthetic data.
• Close the loop between model outputs and physical-world outcomes.

Requirements

• Experience fine-tuning large models for downstream tasks (RLHF, IL, RL, distillation, domain adaptation).
• Background in embodied AI, robotics, or real-world ML systems.
• Strong focus on evaluation, benchmarking, and failure analysis.
• Ability to debug across the full ML stack from loss curves to physical robot behavior.
• Comfort with rapid iteration and real-world feedback loops.
• Must be able to work on-site in San Mateo, CA or Somerville, MA.
