Senior Software Engineer – Platform & Data Infrastructure (Kubernetes/Terraform)

Location: Full-time, in-office attendance required in Mountain View, California, or McLean, Virginia, United States

Salary: $190,978–$214,052 USD annual base salary for Mountain View, California; bonus, equity, and benefits are additional.

What you will do

• Operate the lifecycle, networking, migrations, and multi-region deployment of enterprise Kubernetes fleets on GKE and EKS.
• Maintain GitOps reconciliation and CI/CD pipelines with FluxCD and Helm, including cluster bootstrapping, progressive rollouts, and secret integrations.
• Architect modular Terraform codebases and enterprise Infrastructure as Code workspaces while enforcing Sentinel and OPA policy guardrails.
• Build and optimize data pipelines and workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow, Kafka, and BigQuery.
• Implement zero-trust security, secrets management, Workload Identity, and network perimeter controls.
• Lead zero-downtime infrastructure migrations, reliability and disaster recovery exercises, observability work, runbook development, on-call operations, and technical mentorship.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, or cloud data infrastructure.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Bash, SQL, or Java.
• Deep experience operating enterprise-scale Kubernetes fleets and container ecosystems.
• Extensive practical experience with modular Terraform and Infrastructure as Code at scale.
• Experience operating Apache Airflow, Kafka, BigQuery, or comparable event-streaming and workflow systems.

Nice to have

• CKA or CKAD certification.
• Experience with Terraform Enterprise, Terragrunt, Sentinel, or OPA policy-as-code.
• GitOps experience with FluxCD or ArgoCD across multi-tenant production fleets.
• Advanced HashiCorp Vault and Kubernetes External Secrets Operator experience.
• Experience with large-scale cloud migrations, data warehouse transitions, or networking overhauls with zero customer impact.
