Senior Staff Software Architect (Quantum Networking)

Location: Onsite or hybrid in Santa Clara / Bay Area, California, United States. Travel up to 15% domestically or internationally. Access to export-controlled technology requires U.S. Person status, an applicable license, or a confirmed license exception.

Salary: $216,136–$282,978 base salary annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end architecture of a high-scale network monitoring platform for telemetry from hundreds of thousands of devices.
• Design cloud-native ingestion and processing pipelines using streaming platforms and time-series storage.
• Define the unified YANG-based data model for device configuration, operational telemetry, and network topology relationships.
• Write and review production code in Go and/or Rust for collectors, aggregators, and real-time processing engines.
• Define partitioning, sharding, retention, deployment, autoscaling, and multi-cloud reliability strategies.
• Partner with Product and Engineering on roadmap specifications and mentor senior engineers through architecture reviews and hands-on guidance.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software or platform architecture experience, including at least 5 years leading architecture for large-scale, data-intensive distributed systems.
• Experience building and operating device monitoring systems with telemetry ingestion, fleet management, and real-time alerting.
• Hands-on production coding experience with Go and/or Rust.
• Expertise in data modeling, schema design, time-series storage such as InfluxDB or Timescale, event streaming such as Kafka or Kinesis, and graph data models.
• Understanding of containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, and cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Must satisfy U.S. export-control and government-contract access requirements through U.S. Person status, an applicable license, or a confirmed license exception.

Nice to have

• Production experience with both Go and Rust.
• Background in network management platforms or network equipment vendors, with familiarity with gNMI, NETCONF, or SNMP.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS platforms with data isolation, schema evolution, and customer-tier scalability.
• Open-source infrastructure or observability contributions, technical writing, or experience with high-throughput data collection.
