What you will do

  • Direct daily Quality Assurance Laboratory operations and align testing activities with production schedules and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Laboratory Technicians while maintaining a culture of safety, precision, and accountability.
  • Oversee chemical, radiological, metallurgical, and mechanical testing for nuclear fuel qualification.
  • Maintain analytical instruments, consumable inventories, calibrations, scheduled servicing, and laboratory records.
  • Review test methods, validation activities, technical reports, certificates of analysis, deviations, and nonconformance investigations.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, Procurement, Regulatory Affairs, Fuel Operations, and safety functions on qualification and process improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a regulated laboratory environment, ideally in nuclear, aerospace, medical, or other high-reliability manufacturing.
  • Leadership experience managing technical teams and expertise in analytical testing, quality systems, and documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical instruments such as ICP-MS, XRF, DSC, IC, XRD, and FTIR.
  • Knowledge of nuclear-industry regulatory standards, safety protocols, and quality-control procedures, including NQA-1 and ISO 17025.
  • Applicants must already be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience in nuclear fuel or another high-reliability manufacturing sector.
  • Willingness to work extended commissioning and production campaigns at the fuel pilot line facility.
