Senior Software Engineer (Applications)

Location: Toronto, Canada. Most of the engineering team works in the EST time zone, with additional team members in AST, PST, and Central time zones.

Salary: 150,000–190,000 CAD per year.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services that support complex enterprise product workflows.
• Develop data models for hierarchical, relationship-heavy, and enterprise-scale datasets.
• Make technical decisions balancing maintainability, performance, and operational simplicity.
• Improve testing, observability, scalability, and production reliability.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Analytics to translate requirements into scalable backend designs.
• Participate in design and code reviews, technical discussions, pairing, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong experience designing and building production backend systems.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or C#.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, relational schema design, and data modeling.
• Experience with hierarchical, graph-like, relationship-heavy, or workflow-driven data structures.
• Ability to identify technical risks, evaluate tradeoffs, and propose practical improvements.
• Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating across Engineering, Product, and Analytics while remaining hands-on.

Nice to have

• Experience building SaaS products for mid-market or enterprise customers.
• Experience with rule-driven systems, validation workflows, or approval and governance platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS-based infrastructure and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to Sales Performance Management, RevOps, or incentive compensation.
