Lead Design

Location: San Francisco, CA; hybrid employment model with in-office attendance and work-from-home flexibility.

Salary: $240,000–$275,000 annualized, based on geographic location, with potential for a higher range depending on proficiency level.

What you will do

• Lead craft for Consumer Design as a player-coach, running weekly critiques and improving manager-level design review processes.
• Manage 5–6 consumer designers through regular 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and promotion cycles.
• Own design capacity planning across seven product areas and recommend how design headcount should be allocated.
• Represent design in product decisions, including how neighbors filter and navigate content in the app.
• Arbitrate exceptions to the shared design system and protect consistency and scalability across product surfaces.
• Ship hands-on design work in at least one high-impact consumer product area and participate in in-person company events.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or a related field, with a strong record of designing and shipping user-centered products.
• Direct experience managing designers through performance and promotion cycles while continuing to work as an individual contributor.
• Strong craft judgment, including the ability to run critiques, make leveling decisions, and defend design decisions during calibration.
• Proficiency in Figma and other tools for wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
• Experience contributing to design systems and applying qualitative and quantitative research to design decisions.
• Fluency with AI-assisted design tools and the ability to evaluate their appropriate use through human judgment.
