Software Engineer - AI Security Product (AI)

Location: Palo Alto, California, USA

Base salary: $155,000–$180,000 USD per year, plus equity awards and potential incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Develop expertise in authentication, scopes, data flows, and risk patterns across ChatGPT Enterprise, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, Glean, and agentic frameworks.
• Research emerging AI attack techniques, including prompt injection, tool and agent misuse, RAG poisoning, and over-permissioned integrations.
• Define threat models and data models for AI and agentic platform security.
• Prototype and ship highly available AI agent security products.
• Build and improve efficient, cost-effective data pipelines.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience shipping and owning production backend systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or a similar modern programming language.
• Experience with AWS or GCP, containers, CI/CD, observability, and production ownership.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs and agentic patterns such as tool or function calling, MCP, and agent frameworks, or the ability to ramp up quickly.
• Experience with dbt and a modern data stack using a columnar warehouse or query engine such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineers, product managers, and customer security teams while operating in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Salesforce, or Okta APIs, event schemas, permissions, and authentication flows.
• Knowledge of AI and SaaS security, including OWASP LLM Top 10, MITRE ATLAS, prompt injection, agent and tool-use risks, OAuth abuse, and identity models.
• Experience building a cybersecurity product.
• Knowledge of OAuth flows, scopes, tokens, identity, and access control concepts.
