Manufacturing Design Engineer (AI Hardware)

What you will do

• Partner with industrial designers and mechanical engineers to translate design concepts into manufacturable products.
• Own design for manufacturability across materials, finishes, tolerances, and assembly processes.
• Work with contract manufacturers, tooling vendors, and supply chain partners to drive quality and consistency.
• Identify and resolve manufacturing risks early in the development cycle.
• Maintain design intent through mass production, manage deviations, and approve samples.
• Contribute to process improvements that raise quality across the hardware line.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing design.
• Deep knowledge of finishes and manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, injection molding, die casting, surface finishing, and assembly.
• Experience working with contract manufacturers.
• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and mechanical design principles.
• Proven ability to protect design quality through high-volume production.
• Comfort working across time zones and cultures with factory and supplier partners, with a sharp eye for fit, finish, and feel.
