TL;DR
Senior Staff Technical Product Manager (Automotive): Building and governing Scout’s end-to-end Vehicle Transaction Platform for direct-to-consumer vehicle purchases with an accent on registration, financing, identity verification, fraud prevention, insurance, trade-ins, and secure document workflows. Focus on defining platform architecture, integrating external transaction partners, ensuring compliance and auditability, and improving transaction completion and operational outcomes.

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina; Fremont, California; or remote within the United States. The role requires 4–5 days per week in the office, regular in-person meetings, company events, and occasional travel. Remote work is not available in New York City.

Salary: $160,000–$192,500 annual base salary; California base salary range: $176,000–$211,750. The role also includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

  • Lead the end-to-end Vehicle Transaction Platform and define its vision, operating model, roadmap, investment priorities, standards, and success metrics.
  • Oversee registration and titling, tax and fee calculation, financing and credit, identity verification, fraud prevention, insurance verification, trade-ins, document generation, and secure document storage.
  • Own orchestration across systems, workflows, business rules, and external partner ecosystems.
  • Define API requirements, SLAs, data contracts, and operational support models for strategic transaction integrations in partnership with engineering.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, legal, compliance, customer support, delivery, and customer experience teams.
  • Measure transaction completion, checkout conversion, financing approvals, registration completion, fraud detection effectiveness, operational efficiency, and exception resolution.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience with technical platforms, transaction systems, or complex integrations.
  • Experience leading large cross-functional product domains across multiple teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong understanding of APIs, system architecture, workflow orchestration, event-driven systems, and enterprise integrations.
  • Familiarity with compliance, privacy, security, and audit requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, systems thinking, analytical decision-making, and ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or demonstrated real-world product development experience.
