Legal Counsel (Nuclear Energy)

Location: Torrance, United States. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Salary: $200,000–$260,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage supply, vendor, construction, technology licensing, NDA, EPC, and other commercial agreements.
• Support and progressively lead project finance transactions, including term sheets, credit agreements, security documents, and financing structures.
• Analyze DOE, NRC, FERC, export control, government contracting, and other federal and state regulatory requirements.
• Support employment, immigration, intellectual property, venture financing, corporate governance, and entity management matters.
• Manage contract lifecycle processes, outside counsel relationships, legal budgets, and compliance programs.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Membership in the California State Bar or eligibility to register as Registered In-House Counsel in California.
• 3–6 years of legal experience with significant exposure to commercial contracts and transactional matters.
• Ability to independently draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements and provide practical legal guidance.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, business judgment, ownership, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced startup environment with significant ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience with project finance, construction contracts, EPC agreements, infrastructure, energy, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, nuclear, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with NRC licensing, DOE programs, Price-Anderson, export controls, and federal regulatory compliance.
• Experience with immigration programs such as H-1B, O-1, TN, and PERM.
• Background in a major law firm or in-house legal role at a startup or high-growth technology company.
• Experience working with DOE, NRC, FERC, or other government agencies.
