Staff DevOps Engineer

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, California, with two days per week in the San Francisco office

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve scalable cloud infrastructure using infrastructure as code.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and standardize deployment patterns across serverless workloads, containerized services, and workflow orchestration systems.
• Create internal tooling, templates, abstractions, and documentation that improve developer self-service and reduce development friction.
• Define observability standards across metrics, logs, and tracing, and identify reliability, latency, and performance risks.
• Investigate and resolve performance issues across distributed systems, serverless execution, containers, and Postgres.
• Automate security and compliance workflows, participate in on-call rotations, and improve systems through incident response and blameless postmortems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional engineering experience at a B2B SaaS company.
• Production experience building and operating cloud systems, ideally with AWS.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, CI/CD systems, and modern deployment workflows.
• Experience with serverless compute, containerized services, distributed workflows, Postgres, observability, and performance debugging.
• Strong ownership, practical automation skills, clear communication, and sound engineering judgment in a fast-paced startup environment.
