Senior Technical Writer (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California; hybrid with core in-office days Monday through Thursday. Flexible work options depend on distance from the downtown San Francisco office.

Annual salary: $150,000–$200,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own API reference documentation, developer guides, and tutorials.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to document APIs and product releases.
• Define documentation voice, tone, style, and quality standards.
• Build AI workflows for documentation generation, review, and API drift detection.
• Structure documentation to scale with the product and serve both human developers and AI agents.
• Develop expertise in card issuing, acquiring, and money movement and use documentation quality metrics to prioritize improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience across technical documentation and software, including writing, docs engineering, or ownership of a documentation system.
• Hands-on experience with docs-as-code using Markdown or MDX, a static site generator, and Git.
• Comfort working with branches, pull requests, and CI.
• Experience building and maintaining AI-backed documentation tooling for generation, review, or drift checks.
• Ability to read API schemas and write valid requests; GraphQL experience is required from the first week, with REST/OpenAPI experience as a strong foundation.
• Strong writing skills for a developer audience.

Nice to have

• Scripting experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python.
• Fintech, payments, or card-issuing experience.
