Field Application Engineer (Optical Communications)

Location: Remote - Israel; travel to customer sites and domestic and international travel may be required.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customers across pre-sales and post-sales engagements.
• Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer needs and recommend hirify.global solutions.
• Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and customer training, including presentations to senior technical stakeholders.
• Support product selection, system architecture design, integration, and troubleshooting.
• Gather customer requirements and feedback for engineering and product management teams.
• Prepare technical reports, application notes, and other customer-facing documentation while maintaining technical customer relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Physics, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in field application engineering, applications engineering, design engineering, or architecture within the optical communications industry.
• Strong understanding of optical components and modules, including lasers, transceivers, ROADMs, and amplifiers.
• Proficiency in optical communication systems, network architectures, and relevant industry standards such as OIF and ITU-T.
• Experience with optical test and measurement equipment, including optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, and BER testers.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and present to VP Engineering, CTO, and similar senior technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
