Senior DevOps Engineer II (AWS)

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; based at the Optical Systems site with onsite work and occasional travel or offsite work as needed.

What you will do

• Support AWS development, test, and production environments.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering automation, container configuration, data management, and release deployments.
• Automate software deployments across virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes, cloud environments, and bare-metal servers.
• Assess and refactor existing applications to adopt modern architectures such as containerized environments.
• Collaborate with project leads, team members, Security, and IT to ensure policy alignment.
• Participate in Agile sprints and related delivery activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent discipline, plus 8+ years of experience.
• Experience with AWS cloud-based development and operations environments.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
• For work in U.S. offices, eligibility under U.S. ITAR regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or applicable government authorization.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux administration, Infrastructure as Code, scripting, and cloud networking is beneficial.
• Strong oral, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a technical field.
• AWS architecture and services experience, including EC2, ELB, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch, S3, and ElastiCache for Redis.
• Experience with Jira, SharePoint, Bitbucket, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Artifactory.
• Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Java, Python, Bash, MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL.
• CompTIA Security+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, security frameworks, cloud migrations, or IT transformations.
