Optical Product Test Engineer (Photonics)

Location: On-site in San Jose or Singapore

A well-funded startup developing photonic infrastructure, optical interconnects, and photonic engines for AI supercomputing and high-performance computing.

What you will do

• Characterize and test fiber-optic components, modules, devices, and systems.
• Design, plan, and conduct optical and fiber testing for production and new products.
• Analyze test results against performance specifications and quality standards.
• Maintain detailed test records and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for product issues.
• Collaborate with optical design, hardware, manufacturing, and other engineering teams during NPI and manufacturing ramp.

Requirements

• BS or MS in engineering, physics, optics, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of industry experience in optical or fiber component testing preferred.
• Hands-on experience with optical spectrum analyzers, power meters, polarization controllers, and bit-error-rate testers.
• Familiarity with communication interfaces and test automation tools.
• Ability to write or adapt automation scripts using Python, LabVIEW, or Visual Basic.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and project-prioritization skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with photonics, telecommunications, or high-speed networking systems.
• Shell scripting experience.
• Ability to train and mentor peers.
