Principal Engineer - Product (RF/Microwave)

Location: Simsbury, Connecticut, United States; 100% inside work with 80% sitting and 20% standing or walking.

What you will do

• Develop low-noise Voltage Controlled SAW Oscillator products and support existing Surface Acoustic Wave product lines.
• Define product requirements and project scope with product management, sales, marketing, and customers.
• Plan and execute product development from concept or order receipt through release and production support.
• Perform RF and DC circuit design and simulation, PCB design, EM simulation, stress analysis, and related mechanical or thermal FEA.
• Lead hands-on prototyping, product development, sustaining engineering, design reviews, and manufacturing-tool creation.
• Investigate WIP and field failures, perform root-cause and corrective-action analysis, and improve production yield.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of experience with RF or microwave circuits operating to 2 GHz or higher.
• Experience with DC and RF circuit simulators, RF or microwave PCB design, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Strong statistical analysis, failure analysis, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel, plus strong technical communication skills.
• Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain a Secret-level security clearance.
• Must provide proof of US citizenship, permanent US residency, or protected-individual status under US export-control requirements.

Nice to have

• MS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with ADS, HFSS or other 2.5D/3D EM simulators, Altium, ANSYS, phase-noise measurements, or low-phase-noise voltage-controlled oscillator design.
• Experience programming computers, soldering components down to 0402, and applying statistical methods such as DOE, SPC, hypothesis testing, and Gage R&R.
