TL;DR
Materials Technician (3D Printing) (Polymer Formulation and Materials Testing): Supporting resin formulation, sample preparation, 3D printing, and routine materials testing in an additive manufacturing laboratory with an accent on precise protocol execution, chemical handling, and laboratory safety. Focus on preparing and analyzing polymer specimens, maintaining accurate technical records, and caring for testing and laboratory equipment.

Location: Onsite 5 days per week in Sunnyvale, California, United States. Not eligible for relocation or current visa sponsorship.

Salary: $28.99–$37.64 per hour, with a midpoint of $33.32 per hour.

What you will do

  • Prepare, weigh, and mix resin formulations according to written protocols.
  • Prepare samples through 3D printing, post-processing, and specimen preparation.
  • Set up, perform, and document mechanical, thermal, and rheological materials tests.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks, digital records, consumables, reagents, and workspace organization.
  • Clean, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Follow chemical handling, laboratory safety, and hazardous waste disposal procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical written protocols precisely.
  • Reliable organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Comfort working hands-on with chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days per week in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, wear PPE, and safely lift or move materials weighing up to 30 lbs.

Nice to have

  • Coursework or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • Prior laboratory experience, including school laboratories, maker spaces, or hobby projects.
  • Familiarity with GHS labeling, Safety Data Sheets, and PPE.
  • Prior 3D printing experience.
