Senior Software Engineer, Clearing Engineering (Java)

Location: New York, United States

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 annual base salary, plus discretionary annual target bonus, performance incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance microservices and stream-processing pipelines for risk management, regulatory reporting, and clearing.
• Architect scalable infrastructure for ingesting and transforming market-data feeds.
• Optimize trade-lifecycle data models and workflows from capture and netting through settlement.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, data freshness, and overall system resilience.
• Improve code quality, test automation, SDLC practices, and platform architecture.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Quants, Risk Managers, and global engineering teams in Hong Kong and New York.

Requirements

• 6+ years of engineering experience supporting front-office trading systems at a regulated financial institution.
• Advanced Java proficiency and implementation experience with Aeron and Kafka.
• Experience designing data structures, event schemas, and database models.
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL data stores, including Postgres, Redis, and MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, Twelve-Factor App, distributed high-availability and disaster-recovery strategies, and hexagonal architecture.
• Ownership mindset, collaborative communication, mentorship, and the ability to use large language models to accelerate development while maintaining engineering standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Airflow, or DBT.
• Knowledge of FIX and FIXML protocols.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Tableau, or Superset.
