Maintenance Engineer - East London

Location: East London, UK, with travel to other sites in the area

Salary: £46,636–£58,937 per year, plus a standby retainer of approximately £4,000 per year and a London allowance of up to £3,550 per year for eligible candidates

What you will do

• Complete routine and emergency maintenance on CHP engines, boilers, pump systems, and electrical and control systems in energy centres.
• Respond to equipment faults, inspect plant, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Plan, coordinate, and schedule maintenance activities across district heating and energy generation schemes.
• Identify improvements that optimise plant performance, site efficiency, and asset availability.
• Provide technical advice on plant issues and support operational decision-making.
• Manage contractors, safety assessments, work quality, and maintenance performance.

Requirements

• HNC/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent, with significant expertise in C&I, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent qualification, with knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety rules.
• Experience with contract management, hazard identification, risk assessment, and operational improvement.
• Ability to achieve the required Competent Person, Nominated Supervisor, and Senior Authorised Person competency levels where required.
• Full UK manual driving licence and flexibility to participate in a call-out rota are required.
• The role is based in East London and includes travel to other local sites.

Nice to have

• Commercial Gas Safe certificates including COCN1, CCN1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, and CODNCO1, or equivalent.
• Experience with district heating systems and associated plant.
• Experience with commercial chillers and heat pumps.
• Practical experience as an SAP, AP, or CP.
