Director of Hardware Engineering (Consumer Electronics)

What you will do

• Lead the Hardware team across optics, video processing, signal processing, battery management, mechanics, electronics, and industrial design.
• Set technical direction and contribute to the product vision for the Capture Portfolio from concept through mass production.
• Manage end-to-end hardware programs, including scope, timelines, critical paths, dependencies, risks, status reporting, and budgets.
• Run agile operating practices for the hardware team, including stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Own DFM/DFA and manufacturing readiness while partnering with assembly lines, contract manufacturers, suppliers, Supply Chain, Finance, and Legal.
• Improve engineering excellence across quality, reliability, testing, documentation, standards, and cross-functional prioritization.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading hardware engineering teams in consumer electronics, including managing managers or leads, or a master's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Broad technical fluency across optics, video processing, signal processing, battery management, mechanics, electronics/EE, firmware, and high-volume DFM/DFA.
• Strong program management experience covering planning, budgeting, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
• Experience taking products from prototype through mass production with contract manufacturers or in-house assembly lines.
• Leadership skills focused on trust, ownership, high standards, and effective decision-making in ambiguous situations.
• Systems thinking across hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and customer experience.

Nice to have

• Direct firmware experience or experience managing firmware teams.
• Experience scaling a hardware team through headcount and product-line growth.
• Experience with hardware and software business models or multi-product environments.
