Product Engineer, Applied AI

Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid policy requiring staff to be in an office at least 25% of the time

What you will do

• Advise prospective enterprise customers across Japan on using Claude to solve high-value business problems.
• Design system architectures, prompting approaches, customized pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites.
• Advise on technical decisions, infrastructure integration, optimal setup, and solutions to technical roadblocks.
• Support customer onboarding and ongoing implementation as a technical advisor across Japan.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product, Engineering, and account executives to develop customer solutions.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites for workshops, implementation support, and relationship building.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a Technical Product Manager, Forward Deployed Engineer, or Platform Engineer.
• Native-level Japanese fluency and business-level English are required.
• Strong technical aptitude and proficiency in Python.
• Recent experience building production systems with large language models.
• Experience designing innovative technical-platform solutions across Japan and navigating ambiguous business problems.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.
