Senior Software Engineer (Apps)

Location: Lawrence, Kansas, United States; onsite office environment required

Salary: $111,500–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Plan, design, develop, test, and enhance Windows or Linux application software and cloud-based tools.
• Participate in and lead software design reviews and create design documentation.
• Implement software according to coding standards, write unit tests, debug code, and validate solutions.
• Support algorithm design based on detailed software requirements and contribute to process improvements.
• Collaborate with multiple software development teams to reuse software across programs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers and coordinate activities when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent education and experience.
• 8–12 years of relevant application software development experience and object-oriented design expertise.
• Expertise in at least one of C#/.NET, Java, C++, or Web UI development.
• Experience with unit testing, debugging, structured software lifecycle processes, and Agile software development.
• Familiarity with Git or SVN, IDEs, debuggers, data structures, databases, and operating systems.
• Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR/EAR requirements or be eligible for an export license; U.S. citizenship is required for some government contracts. Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree.
• Android, iOS, or React/Redux web development experience.
• FitNesse, UAS, drone, or robotics experience.
• Basic networking knowledge and strong mathematical and analytical skills.
