Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Illinois, United States; remote/hybrid

Salary: $126,000–$190,000 per year, plus an annual performance bonus and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate AI-driven, scalable, high-performance systems that process large volumes of data.
• Develop secure, cloud-native solutions for legal and regulatory workflows.
• Deliver complex solutions end to end and own them in production.
• Work with distributed, multi-tenant systems and address performance and scalability trade-offs.
• Raise engineering quality through design discussions, code reviews, and mentorship.
• Collaborate across functions on tools and workflows that support high-stakes legal work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on cloud-native or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of modern software design principles and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with distributed multi-tenant systems and production ownership.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability, and incident response.
• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience building full-stack systems at scale with React and .NET.
• Experience with performance tuning, scalability trade-offs, and secure-by-default design.
• Experience in high-scale or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
