Lead Data Engineer (GCP)

Salary: $130,000–$170,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines with Dataflow, Apache Beam, Dataproc, Spark, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
• Architect and manage BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Fusion for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and establish data engineering, CI/CD, monitoring, and logging standards.
• Optimize pipeline performance, query efficiency, partitioning, slot reservations, and GCP costs.
• Collaborate with data architects, scientists, and analysts to deliver self-service data platforms for analytics and ML use cases.
• Implement data validation, lineage, metadata management, and governance practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or big data technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in SQL, Python, and Java and/or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Apache Beam, BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Composer, and Terraform.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git-based source control, infrastructure as code, data modeling, ETL/ELT frameworks, and cloud data architectures.
