Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis Engineer (C++/Python)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test modeling and simulation capabilities for directed-energy weapon systems, including high-energy lasers and high-power microwaves.
• Set up and execute complex mission-level simulations in the AFSIM environment.
• Analyze subsystem, multi-system, and overall weapon-system performance and effectiveness.
• Conduct trade studies and make recommendations for the employment of multiple defensive systems.
• Support live-fire testing of prototype and fielded systems through modeling and simulation analysis.
• Coordinate analysis planning, execution, and reporting with multiple teams, senior management, and Department of War customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or another relevant technical field.
• Active DoD Secret Clearance required.
• At least 3 years of experience in modeling, simulation, and analysis of Department of War systems.
• Experience with AFSIM, simulation-data analysis, statistical or operations-research methods, and techniques such as design of experiments or Monte Carlo simulation.
• Experience with AI/ML methods, including reinforcement learning or neural networks, simulation frameworks on HPC systems, and both Windows and Linux environments.

Nice to have

• Master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant technical field.
• Experience with directed-energy weapons, laser beam propagation tools such as HELCoMES or SHaRE, battle management, or layered defense.
• Experience with verification and validation, networked MS&A tool integration, and C++ and Python model or analysis-tool development.
• Experience with object-oriented design, deterministic or stochastic modeling, optimization, genetic algorithms, or simulated annealing.
• Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information.
