TL;DR
Certified Inpatient Medical Coding Auditor (Healthcare Claims/Coding): Reviewing inpatient medical records and hospital claims, assigning and validating ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG codes, and resolving provider disputes with an accent on reimbursement accuracy and clinical documentation analysis. Focus on auditing complex coding scenarios, improving payment accuracy, and reducing errors in payer systems.

Location: Remote nationwide within the United States; occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required. Work hours are Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day, scheduled between 6 AM and 6 PM.

Salary: $71,100–$97,800 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

  • Review inpatient medical records and hospital claims for accurate coding and reimbursement.
  • Assign and validate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and diagnosis-related group codes.
  • Audit coding quality and identify opportunities to improve accuracy.
  • Investigate and resolve provider disputes using a fair, fact-based approach.
  • Analyze complex clinical documentation and coding scenarios.
  • Collaborate with other teams to clarify coding and medical information while supporting cost savings.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of MSDRG coding auditing experience.
  • RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certification held for at least 4 years.
  • Experience conducting inpatient coding audits in a health insurance or hospital setting.
  • Experience reading and interpreting claims.
  • Ability to gather or reference data across multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Dedicated, interruption-free workspace and internet service with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds are required to protect PHI/HIPAA information.

Nice to have

  • APDRG coding or auditing experience.
  • Financial recovery experience.
  • Experience in a metric-driven operational setting.
