Mobile Refrigeration Engineer - South East (Thermo King)

Location: Field-based customer sites in South East England; candidates should be located in Kent, East Sussex, or Surrey. The service area includes Southend-on-Sea and Essex, extending to Milton Keynes, Hampshire, and Slough. Extensive travel, overnight stays, nights, weekends, and on-call work are required.

What you will do

• Install, service, repair, and commission vehicle-powered diesel road transport refrigeration units.
• Monitor fleet condition, identify corrective actions, and maintain equipment in line with manufacturer guidance.
• Manage engineer van stock, complete daily vehicle safety checks, and control stock usage and service costs.
• Coordinate job progress, downtime, overtime authorisation, purchase orders, paperwork, PDA updates, and invoicing information.
• Maintain customer service standards and comply with company, health and safety, and ISO9001 procedures.
• Support apprentices and engineers in training where applicable.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a refrigeration, air conditioning, or commercial engineer, preferably with a completed relevant apprenticeship.
• Qualifications in 2078 Refrigerant Handling and 2079 F-Gas.
• Experience with three-phase electrics, brazing, engines, compressors, and hydraulics.
• IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and PDA use, with strong communication, customer service, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Clean UK driving licence and ability to work at customer sites with extensive travel and overnight stays.
• Physical fitness and willingness to participate in on-call rotations, overtime, night, and weekend work.

Nice to have

• Interest in completing Thermo King Basic Refrigeration and Basic Electrics courses.
• Willingness to complete Thermo King Certi-Tech Bronze or higher certification.
• Training in Thermo King electrical diagnostics, thermostats, controllers, and data loggers.
