Mobile Engineer - Fridge (Refrigeration)

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent, with field-based work at customer locations and desired coverage across Greater London and Essex

What you will do

• Install, service, commission, maintain, and repair vehicle-powered road transport refrigeration units.
• Inspect fleet condition and operation, recommend corrective actions, and identify service and revenue opportunities.
• Manage engineer van stock, complete daily vehicle safety checks, and control stock usage on contract accounts.
• Liaise with central control and service centres on job progress, downtime, overtime authorisation, costs, and customer purchase orders.
• Complete paperwork and PDA records for customer updates, central control, and invoicing.
• Follow health and safety, company, and ISO9001 procedures while supervising apprentices or engineers in training where applicable.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a refrigeration, air conditioning, or commercial engineer.
• GCSE-level education or equivalent, with at least three grades C or above.
• Qualified in 2078 Refrigerant Handling and 2079 F-Gas.
• Experience with electrical systems, including three-phase systems, brazing, engines, compressors, and hydraulics.
• Clean UK driving licence, physical fitness, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
• Extensive travel, overnight stays, customer-site work, and participation in an on-call roster including nights, weekends, and overtime are required.

Nice to have

• Completed apprenticeship in refrigeration, air conditioning, or commercial engineering.
• Interest in completing Thermo King training and Certi-Tech certification.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, PDA systems, thermostats, controllers, and data loggers.
