Functional Software Engineer – Research & Quant Foundations (RQF) (F#): Building scheduling platforms, research SDKs, and developer tooling for large-scale quantitative research workloads with an accent on functional design, correctness, and distributed systems. Focus on distributing workloads across massive compute farms, designing streaming-data frameworks, and improving the reliability and developer experience of production research infrastructure.
Location: London, onsite 4 days per week out of 5

Quantitative research and systematic trading firm operating a globally distributed, highly automated trading platform.
What you will do
- Build and maintain a core scheduling platform written primarily in F# for distributing large workloads across compute farms.
- Develop Python and .NET SDKs used by quantitative researchers.
- Build a TypeScript and React interface backed by an F# ASP.NET service, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes.
- Create tooling and frameworks for deploying research platforms and expressing computations over streaming data.
- Design foundational systems focused on performance, safety, expressiveness, resilience, and maintainability.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience in high-bar engineering environments.
- Professional functional programming experience with F#, Scala, Elixir, Haskell, Rust, Lisp, Erlang, OCaml, or Caml.
- Professional Python experience beyond scripting and notebooks.
- Strong programming ability with a deep focus on code quality, software design, and correctness.
- Interest in improving developer experience and building reliable distributed systems.
Nice to have
- Compiler development or language tooling experience.
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent technical depth.
