Backend Software Tester (M/F/D)

Location: Hybrid in Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Portugal

What you will do

• Design, implement, and execute automated tests for backend services and REST, SOAP, and GraphQL APIs.
• Develop and maintain functional, contract, integration, and regression test suites.
• Identify, document, and track defects while collaborating with developers on resolution.
• Conduct performance, load, and reliability testing of backend systems.
• Improve QA tools, frameworks, workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a QA Engineer, Software Tester, or in a similar role.
• Solid experience testing backend systems with Java, including JUnit or TestNG.
• Hands-on experience with REST, SOAP, and GraphQL API testing using tools such as Postman, RestAssured, SoapUI, or Karate.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB, for test validation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, GitHub, GitLab, software testing methodologies, and QA processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
• Experience with UI and end-to-end automation using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
