Principal Data Engineer (Data Engineering)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; the role is based in Germany and requires regular travel to client sites for up to approximately 50% of the time.

What you will do

• Lead complex data engineering pursuits with sales, pre-sales, technical stakeholders, and executives.
• Define data strategies, modern architectures, governance, security, and privacy practices.
• Design, develop, deploy, and operate large-scale data processing pipelines and data-centric applications.
• Build real-time and low-latency streaming solutions across cloud and locally hosted environments.
• Collaborate with data scientists to productionize scalable models and communicate data insights to varied audiences.
• Mentor engineers, grow the data engineering capability, and contribute to thought leadership and market initiatives.

Requirements

• Extensive pre-sales experience and a proven record of independently driving complex pursuits and commercial proposals.
• Typically 10+ years of hands-on and leadership experience in data and AI, with continued involvement in coding.
• Experience with enterprise system design, Domain-Driven Design, big-data architecture, distributed storage and processing, and cloud data warehousing.
• Experience building production-scale pipelines, data models, real-time streaming solutions, data-centric applications, and data visualizations.
• Experience implementing data governance and security policies, with knowledge of MLOps and data science concepts.
• Fluent German at C1 level required; based in Germany with regular client-site travel.
