API Integration Test Engineer (API)

Location: Cluj-Napoca, Romania; the role requires working from the office three days per week. The wider program operates remotely across the EU.

hirify.global is staffing API and integration testing specialists for a long-term capital markets modernization program with a global financial markets infrastructure client.

What you will do

• Design and implement REST API test suites, including contract validation, JSON schema checks, authentication testing, and negative-path coverage.
• Validate Kafka and other event-driven integrations, including consumer behavior, message ordering, deduplication, offset management, and data consistency.
• Test WebSocket feeds for connection stability, message sequencing, reconnect behavior, and data accuracy under load.
• Verify semantic parity during SOAP-to-REST migrations and compare large JSON and XML payloads programmatically.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines and create quality gates that prevent defective releases.
• Trace data across interconnected systems using SQL and verify end-to-end consistency.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software testing experience with a specialization in API and integration testing.
• Strong hands-on coding experience with Python, Requests, and Pytest and/or Java and REST Assured.
• Experience with REST API testing, HTTP semantics, OAuth, API keys, JWT, and contract testing.
• Experience testing Kafka and messaging systems, WebSocket applications, and complex SQL queries with multi-table joins.
• Strong JSON and XML manipulation skills, including programmatic comparison of large payloads.
• Proficient English at B2+ level for technical communication.

Nice to have

• Financial services or capital markets experience.
• Exposure to gRPC, SOAP, and WS Security testing.
• Experience with API performance testing tools such as Locust, k6, or Gatling.
