Lead/Principal Software Engineer (AWS, Java/Python)

Location: Plano, Texas, United States. Must have the right to work in the United States and must not require current or future employment-based visa or work authorization sponsorship.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions with agile teams.
• Lead the design and architecture of platform-level features, including reliability, scaling, backup, and restore patterns.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, including contract design, versioning, and error handling.
• Define engineering and operational excellence practices covering code quality, testing, observability, and deployment safety.
• Communicate technical risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to stakeholders and partner teams.
• Mentor engineers, guide technical sub-groups, and support talent development and recruiting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend or full-stack focus and principal-level experience.
• Deep expertise designing AWS architectures across serverless, containerized, and event-driven solutions, including EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, DocumentDB, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, MSK, S3, CloudFront, and OpenSearch.
• Experience with asynchronous communication patterns and brokers such as Kafka.
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality checks, deployment strategies, and observable distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, collaboration, and communication skills for working with product managers, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience with Bedrock Data Automation, AWS Textract, Transcribe, or other AI/ML solutions and evaluation frameworks.
• Experience customizing CI/CD workflows and managing multiple environments.
