Confluent - Senior Software Engineer II (Go/Kubernetes)

Location: Remote within the United States; locations include Poughkeepsie, Lowell, Rochester, Tucson, Research Triangle Park, Armonk, Boston, Bellevue, Atlanta, San Jose, Dallas, Austin, San Francisco, and Seattle. Some travel may be required based on business demand.

Salary: $131,000–$245,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and evolve internal infrastructure services in Go, frequently implemented as Kubernetes operators.
• Develop and operate the cloud infrastructure supporting Confluent Cloud and streaming applications.
• Improve infrastructure security, scalability, observability, availability, performance, and reliability.
• Enable fast and safe service deployment through shared platform tooling, GitOps, Terraform, and CI/CD practices.
• Manage monitoring, incident response, capacity planning, and the full lifecycle of infrastructure services.
• Influence architecture and operational strategy for systems running across tens of thousands of instances and multiple regions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, or Python, including reading, debugging, and evolving existing code.
• Deep understanding of filesystems, memory, networking, kernel behavior, and large-scale system performance.
• Production experience with Kubernetes, containers, and public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Expertise in GitOps, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, automation, and reliability practices.
• Must be able to work without current or future visa sponsorship in the United States.
