Software Engineer (PL/SQL)

Location: Kurfürstendamm 21, 10719 Berlin, Germany. Hybrid and flexible working are available.

What you will do

• Design, implement, operate, maintain, and test backend services in the Payments domain.
• Own critical payment modules across architecture, delivery, observability, on-call readiness, and lifecycle management.
• Analyze workflows, customer journeys, exceptions, and edge cases to define optimization proposals.
• Refine stakeholder requirements into user stories, acceptance criteria, technical designs, and success metrics.
• Own integrations with third-party systems and payment networks, ensuring reliable contracts, compatibility, testing, and rollout.
• Improve engineering standards through code reviews, coaching, documentation, hiring, and onboarding.

Requirements

• Extensive backend Software Engineering experience with ownership of production system design and delivery.
• Strong Oracle and SQL/PL/SQL or equivalent database and data-modelling skills.
• Experience with process analysis, requirements workshops, ambiguity resolution, and translating business outcomes into technical solutions.
• Strong ownership in incident response and defect triage, with clear communication of impact, options, and trade-offs.
• Mid or Senior level experience.

Nice to have

• Experience in payments or other regulated and transactional domains.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Product mindset and experience with Agile teams, Jira, Confluence, backlog refinement, and stakeholder alignment.
