Software Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: Hybrid work in Hamburg or Berlin, Germany. Work from abroad is available for up to 30 calendar days per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services in Kotlin and Python supporting user data flows.
• Design and optimize scalable event-driven architectures and pipelines connecting internal systems with CDPs and marketing channels.
• Build reliable processes for collecting, transforming, and activating user data for campaigns and analytics.
• Drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with marketing, data, product, and platform teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and observability through testing, monitoring, logging, CI/CD, deployment, and maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer.
• Strong programming skills in Java or Kotlin and Python.
• Experience designing scalable backend systems and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, and messaging or streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Customer Data Platforms and the MarTech ecosystem, including Braze, Salesforce, Segment, or Hightouch.
• Experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
• Experience designing AI-powered workflows, AI agents, LLM integrations, or developer productivity tools.
