Senior Software Engineer (Planning Systems)

Sateliot is a Barcelona-based satellite company operating a 5G NTN constellation that provides standard-based NB-IoT connectivity through mobile network operators.

What you will do

• Work with operations specialists to identify operational constraints and translate them into validated technical models.
• Design and implement service and mission planning systems, setting technical direction and scope.
• Lead iterative development through short cycles, demonstrations, and continuous usable increments.
• Build systems that continuously reconcile service demand with satellite and ground infrastructure capacity.
• Collaborate with network operations, satellite operations, and service engineering on service KPIs, satellite integrity, and 3GPP NTN concepts of operation.
• Take technical responsibility for the planning capability from early concept through production.

Requirements

• Seven or more years of senior software engineering experience designing and deploying resilient production systems.
• Deep proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Python, Go, Java, or C++.
• Significant experience with scheduling, planning, constraint-based optimisation, or similarly complex systems.
• Experience taking technical ownership of a system from early concept through production and revisiting decisions as understanding improves.
• Ability to extract complex requirements from non-technical domain experts and provide iterative technical leadership.
• Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in satellite operations, mission planning, ground segment, or aerospace software.
• Telecommunications or mobile network experience, especially 3GPP NTN, radio resource management, beam and channel allocation, or link planning.
• Background in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, cloud, simulation, digital twins, or optimisation solvers.
• Experience introducing first-of-its-kind systems into live operational environments through staged delivery.
