Corporate Area Technical Manager (DCS)

Location: Lake Forest, Illinois, United States; travel to mills and project sites as needed

Starting salary: $129,500–$185,000 per year, plus an annual bonus based on individual contribution and company performance

What you will do

• Provide technical support to corporate and mill teams responsible for DCS, QCS, PLC, and drive systems.
• Oversee DCS logic configuration, hardware installation, process tuning, optimization, and lifecycle management.
• Identify, recommend, and deliver DCS training for control system engineers and technicians.
• Engage in capital project development, equipment specification, budgeting, system updates, upgrades, and reliability improvements.
• Support control system audits, assessments, cybersecurity improvements, and operational resilience initiatives.
• Partner with Operations, IT, Controls, corporate technology specialists, and mill teams to establish best practices and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

• 10+ years of broad technical expertise and practical experience in process control systems.
• Experience with DCS platforms from Honeywell, ABB, Emerson, Rockwell, or other process control system suppliers.
• Experience with distributed control systems hardware, DCS programming and logic, control tuning, instrumentation, and DCS upgrades.
• Experience with process optimization, project management, and project budget estimation.
• Ability to support systems across instrumentation, motors, final control elements, operator interfaces, process historians, and production planning systems.
• Strong communication, listening, collaboration, ownership, accountability, and service-oriented skills.
• Ability to stay current with instrumentation, DCS technologies, cybersecurity threats, supplier advisories, software updates, and industry best practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
• Ability to travel as needed for capital projects, reliability initiatives, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
