Software Engineer, Compute Systems (Embedded)

Location: Hsinchu City or Taipei City, Taiwan; hybrid work schedule with onsite reporting requirements

Salary: 2,600,000–3,150,000 TWD per year

Waymo develops autonomous driving technology and the Waymo Driver, its fully autonomous driving platform for ride-hail services and other vehicle applications.

What you will do

• Design and implement full-stack compute solutions spanning firmware, low-level drivers, and APIs for ML accelerator chips.
• Analyze and optimize firmware and driver performance for demanding AI workloads.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers during ASIC design and verification.
• Design and implement efficient memory management solutions, including NUMA and IOMMU.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• Experience developing bare-metal or RTOS firmware.
• Experience with embedded architectures, I/O technologies such as PCIe, DRAM, and AXI, and hardware-software interactions.
• Strong C and C++ skills.
• Ability to work in Hsinchu City or Taipei City under the role’s hybrid/onsite schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with RISC-V architecture.
• Experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or JAX.
• Familiarity with hardware-software co-design principles.
• Experience with silicon emulators.
