Summer 2027 Engineering and Tech Internship (Aerospace)

Location: 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters in Centennial, Colorado, United States

Compensation: $35 per hour for Hardware and $40 per hour for Software, plus a $2,000 housing allowance.

What you will do

• Work directly with engineering teams on real, high-stakes aerospace development problems.
• Contribute to materials selection, process development, laboratory testing, and manufacturing of high-performance engine components.
• Support engine assembly, machining, tooling, process development, electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, and test systems.
• Design, analyze, build, and test mechanical hardware and turbomachinery systems, including thermodynamic, aerodynamic, structural, combustion, cooling, and heat-transfer work.
• Build software tools used by engineers on the shop floor and at test stands, including tools supported by modern AI development workflows.
• Lead cross-functional special projects involving operational analysis, business processes, critical decisions, and urgent company problems.

Requirements

• Must work 100% onsite at the Centennial, Colorado headquarters.
• Must be eligible to access export-controlled information and technology under U.S. ITAR and EAR regulations.
• For materials and manufacturing work: fundamentals in metallic and ceramic materials, hands-on laboratory or manufacturing experience, and familiarity with testing, machining, tooling, work instructions, or quality control.
• For electrical, embedded controls, mechanical, or turbomachinery work: experience with relevant hardware, electrical systems, controls, instrumentation, embedded systems, CAD, structural analysis, propulsion, thermodynamics, fluids, combustion, heat transfer, or experimental data.
• For software work: experience building used software, strong fundamentals in at least one programming language, and fluency with modern AI development tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, ownership, execution, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
