Software Reverse Engineer (Cybersecurity): Reverse engineering wireless and embedded systems to uncover vulnerabilities and develop proof-of-concept exploits with an accent on firmware analysis, binary manipulation, and wireless protocol security. Focus on analyzing ARM, MIPS, PowerPC, and RTOS targets, building custom tools, and solving complex vulnerability research challenges for mission-critical security solutions.

Location: Onsite in Herndon, Virginia, United States

Salary: $112,276–$168,414 USD annually

What you will do

  • Reverse engineer wireless and embedded systems to identify vulnerabilities and assess their security impact.
  • Develop maintainable proof-of-concept exploits and organize code bases using DevOps practices.
  • Analyze firmware, software protections, wireless protocols, and software or firmware binaries.
  • Develop and use custom tools to manipulate binaries and support vulnerability research.
  • Collaborate with CNO developers, vulnerability researchers, and hardware engineers in a small-team environment.
  • Solve complex technical challenges without predefined solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency with C/C++, Python, and Linux command-line environments.
  • Experience with reverse engineering and vulnerability research using IDA Pro, Binary Ninja, or Ghidra.
  • Expertise in firmware analysis, firmware rehosting with QEMU, fuzzing, exploit development, binary obfuscation, wireless protocols, file system forensics, or fault injection.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.

Nice to have

  • Binary Ninja API or Ghidra scripting experience.
  • Embedded software development with C/C++ for RTOS or Linux environments.
  • Knowledge of cryptographic security, secure boot, hardware debugging, JTAG/SWD, SDR, digital signal processing, RF processing, or side-channel analysis.
  • Client-facing technical experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
