Technical Product Engineering Lead (Embedded Security): Leading the end-to-end architecture and technical roadmap for hardware security products spanning hardware, FPGA, embedded firmware, and software with an accent on secure systems, Embedded Linux, and reliable production transitions. Focus on designing secure architectures, building hardware-in-loop testing and CI/CD strategies, and maturing R&D prototypes into fieldable solutions.

Location: Arlington, Virginia, United States; on-site work is required when needed for hardware activities.

Salary: $189,353–$245,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end system architecture and technical roadmap across hardware, FPGA, embedded firmware, and software.
  • Lead architectural decisions, design trade-offs, technical planning, prioritization, and schedules.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members.
  • Transition proof-of-concept R&D technology into operational, fieldable products.
  • Develop unit, integration, and hardware-in-loop testing strategies and lead implementation.
  • Reduce maintenance overhead through scalable and modular product design while engaging transition partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience as a technical lead, architect, or similar engineering leadership role across hardware, FPGA, or software disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 7 years of experience with two or more of Python, C, C++, Embedded C, Rust, or Go.
  • Strong Embedded Linux and Yocto-based build-system experience, including Linux kernel development.
  • Experience working with FPGA and hardware teams, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and virtual machine test ranges.
  • Experience deploying secure systems, applying cryptographic algorithms, and eligibility to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance up to Top Secret level. On-site work in Arlington, Virginia may be required for hardware work.

Nice to have

  • Experience with secure bootloaders such as WolfBoot and digitally signed secure firmware updates.
  • Hands-on PCIe experience, including device drivers, enumeration, or hardware bring-up.
  • Experience shipping production software and working with validation or certification frameworks such as FIPS 140-3, NIAP, or CSfC.
  • Graduate degree in a relevant technical or scientific field.
  • Familiarity with post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and their application trade-offs.
