Software Engineer (Python/AWS)

Location: Hybrid position based in the Kansas City, Missouri office; employees must attend the office on a scheduled frequency.

What you will do

• Engage with Product Owners and Managers to understand requirements and implement software solutions.
• Create applications and products for investment management research, reporting, risk management, and investment analytics.
• Build cloud-native ETL pipelines, data analysis applications, scalable microservices, and message-driven applications.
• Automate manual processes and empower portfolio management and research teams to build data-driven solutions.
• Collaborate with Technical Leads, Product Owners, Architects, internal business partners, and vendors in an Agile environment.
• Provide team on-call support; occasional overtime may be required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance, business, or equivalent education and work experience.
• Application development and support experience with Python, Pandas, NumPy, AWS S3, Step Functions, Lambda, SNS, SQS, and Glue or Apache Spark.
• Strong data modeling experience for relational SQL and NoSQL applications; experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or DB2 is preferred.
• Understanding of architectural and software design patterns, software engineering practices, testing methodologies, and Agile frameworks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical and architectural documentation.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of application development and support experience with the required Python, data, and AWS technologies.
• Cloud-native and AWS development experience.
• Experience with investment management data and data vendors such as Bloomberg or FactSet.
