Senior Manufacturing Engineer (Payloads)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employees must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $140,333–$179,314 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Own manufacturing and assembly processes for pharmaceutical processing hardware, experiment modules, and customer-furnished payload equipment.
• Develop work instructions, assembly travelers, process specifications, and acceptance test procedures.
• Translate customer requirements and ICD constraints into executable production and integration processes.
• Implement contamination control, cleanliness, and handling protocols for pharmaceutical-grade and precision optical hardware.
• Collaborate with design engineers on DFM/DFA, assembly accessibility, interfaces, thermal design, and testability.
• Execute acceptance testing, inspections, build-record traceability, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and payload readiness coordination.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience manufacturing or integrating complex electromechanical assemblies, scientific instruments, or payload systems.
• Experience building precision hardware to tight tolerances and exacting cleanliness requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, ICDs, and assembly models; familiarity with GD&T and interface requirements.
• Experience developing assembly procedures and acceptance test plans for multifunctional hardware.
• Ability to work on-site in El Segundo and meet U.S. work authorization and ITAR U.S.-person requirements; able to lift 25 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with spacecraft payloads, scientific instruments, hosted payloads, or space missions.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical or bioprocessing manufacturing, GMP, contamination control, and microgravity hardware.
• Experience with payload customer relationships, ICD management, environmental testing, and interface verification.
• Experience in an ISO Class 7 or better cleanroom environment.
