Field Service Engineer (Industrial Automation)

Location: Reno, NV, United States; travel up to 75% throughout the assigned territory and nationwide, including overnight and short-notice travel.

What you will do

• Install, configure, commission, and start up SMT and industrial automation equipment at customer sites.
• Perform equipment retrofits, upgrades, and custom modifications.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and process-related issues onsite and remotely.
• Provide advanced technical support, escalate complex issues to engineering teams, and help minimize customer downtime.
• Train customer personnel on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Advise customers on process optimization, preventive maintenance, and equipment efficiency while preparing service reports and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical education, military training, and relevant experience.
• Experience with SMT equipment or similar industrial automation machinery is preferred.
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostics, repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance skills.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and mechatronic system diagrams.
• Proficiency with Windows-based operating systems, software installation, system configuration, and basic networking concepts.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, strong communication skills, independent working ability, and availability for extensive air and car travel.
