Flight Software Internship - Spring 2027 (C++)

Location: Full-time, on-site internship in Los Angeles, CA, during January–May 2027. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person.

Hourly rate: $37.00. Housing stipend is available for interns relocating to the area, along with a commuter benefit.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

• Build Python and C++ tools, services, and libraries interfacing with flight and ground systems.
• Develop automation for simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, and scenario-based testing.
• Debug software issues involving operating systems, networking, timing, and hardware-software interactions.
• Improve correctness, determinism, observability, and reliability for mission-critical operations.
• Collaborate with flight software, embedded systems, mission operations, and test teams under mentor guidance.

Requirements

• Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Proficiency in C++ and experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and core computer science fundamentals.
• Ability to debug complex software issues and work comfortably in Linux environments.
• Must be lawfully authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of concurrency, networking, performance, reliability, real-time embedded development, or safety-critical software.
• Working knowledge of mathematics and physics.
• Experience with robotics, rocketry, capstone projects, laboratory work, open-source contributions, or self-directed projects.
• Relevant coursework in computer architecture, signals and systems, digital design, assembly, embedded systems, or electronics.
