What you will do
Own the design, layout, and mechanical integration of Power Conversion System piping, including specifications, supports, expansion joints, and component interfaces.
Perform piping stress and structural analyses for sustained, thermal expansion, transient, vibration, and fatigue loading conditions.
Evaluate piping loads on turbomachinery, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and supporting structures.
Develop piping layouts, engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and fabrication documentation in accordance with applicable ASME codes and standards.
Collaborate with thermal, mechanical, structural, and systems engineers to optimize pressure losses, manufacturability, and system integration.
Support procurement, fabrication, assembly, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting while working with suppliers and technicians.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
At least 5 years of relevant experience for Senior level; 8 or more years for Staff level.
Experience designing high-temperature and/or high-pressure piping systems for industrial or power generation applications.
Proficiency in piping stress analysis, including thermal expansion, support reactions, and equipment nozzle loads.
Familiarity with ASME B31.3 or B31.1 piping design codes.
Experience developing and reviewing piping layouts, P&IDs, engineering drawings, and fabrication documentation.
Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or be eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under U.S. Government export regulations.
Nice to have
Experience in nuclear, power generation, oil and gas, aerospace, or other high-performance thermal-fluid systems.
Proficiency with CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, or equivalent piping stress analysis tools, and familiarity with FEA tools.
Experience with piping vibration, pulsation, acoustic loading, water hammer, and fatigue assessment.
Familiarity with ASME BPVC requirements, including Section III, and applicable nuclear quality standards.
Hands-on experience supporting fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of complex piping systems.
Experience working in a fast-paced hardware development environment.
Culture & Benefits
Significant stock option package in addition to the listed salary.
Values systems thinking, focus on end users, unconstrained problem-solving, nuanced decision-making, and direct engagement with customers and stakeholders.
Teams are built in person, with an emphasis on working together at the facility and meeting customers, users, and stakeholders face to face.
