Small Animal Boarded Veterinarian Surgeon

Location: Orchard Park, New York, USA; onsite role in a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.

Salary: USD 250,000–400,000 per year, with production opportunities.

What you will do

• Provide advanced surgical care across soft tissue, orthopedic, neurologic, and emergency procedures.
• Evaluate surgical candidates, develop individualized treatment plans, and perform complex procedures while prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
• Participate in emergency surgical coverage within a 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.
• Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiology, Emergency and Critical Care, and other specialty services.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prognoses, and follow-up care to clients, referring veterinarians, and internal teams.
• Mentor veterinary technicians, assistants, interns, and other surgical support staff; participate in rounds, continuing education, and multidisciplinary case discussions.

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
• Board Certification in Small Animal Surgery through ACVS or ECVS, or completion of a surgical residency with intent to pursue board certification.
• Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in New York State.
• Three or more years of clinical experience in small animal surgery.
• Experience with a broad range of soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-volume referral and emergency setting.
