Systems Engineering Lead (Optical Metrology)

Salary: $176,000–$242,000 per year, with potential bonus and stock award participation.

What you will do

• Lead a multidisciplinary systems engineering team developing optical metrology and inspection systems involving optics, physics, mechanics, electronics, algorithms, controls, and software.
• Define system architectures, decompose requirements, conduct trade-off analyses and error-budget assessments, and lead technical decisions.
• Translate customer, market, and product requirements into system specifications, verification plans, characterization experiments, and design-validation activities.
• Direct system integration, optical setup, alignment, calibration, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Oversee prototype development, system qualification, manufacturing transfer, new product introduction, and customer deployment.
• Manage multiple concurrent programs, including resources, schedules, costs, risks, technical performance, quality, suppliers, and executive-level communication.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience developing complex optical systems, including optical metrology and inspection systems for semiconductor manufacturing.
• 3+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in requirements management, system architecture, risk analysis, verification methodologies, and system-level engineering processes.
• Hands-on experience with optical system integration, alignment, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing OEM vendors, suppliers, and external development partners, with strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of optical metrology and inspection performance metrics, SEMI standards, ISO processes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with reliability testing, manufacturing transfer, field deployment, technology roadmaps, and advanced research programs.
• Technical innovation demonstrated through patents, publications, or industry recognition.
